Choosing The Right Workbenches In Manchester

If you are in need of workbenches in Manchester for your garage or workshop floor, you’ll find an unbeatable range here at UK Workbenches.

Not only do we supply workbenches in all common sizes, but we also offer a choice of tops and accessories to build an all-in-one workstation.

Want an 8-inch vice to bolt onto your workbench? Or a workbench with an anti-static and ESD safe laminate top? You can have both. There are endless configurations available to suit your line of work and complete your Manchester workshop.

To help you choose the right setup, here are some pointers:

Workbenches are available in the following common sizes (W H D):

·       1200 x 600 x 840mm

·       1200 x 750 x 840mm

·       1500 x 600 x 840mm

·       1500 x 750 x 840mm

·       1500 x 900 x 840mm

·       2000 x 600 x 840mm

·       2000 x 750 x 840mm

·       2000 x 900 x 840mm

If you have space, it is always best to ‘size up’ in width so you have space to grow. We recommend measuring your floor area and drawing an outline in chalk for the sizes listed above, so you can see how your workbench will sit.

Duty and top

The duty of a workbench determines the top material. Medium duty workbenches have either an MDF top or a laminate top. Laminate tops can also be anti-static. Laminate or MDF would be a good choice for electrical applications.

Heavy and super heavy duty workbenches have a galvanized steel top. This can be either solid metal or more commonly a timber core wrapped in steel.

Fixed or adjustable

Most workbenches are a fixed height, but you can also get height-adjustable workbenches that let you transition from sitting to standing. They are normally available with either Allen key, hand crank or electric motor adjustment.

Bench accessories

We sell a huge range of accessories that can be added to your workbench, including vices, shelves, drawers, cupboards and louvres. If you need storage, adding a cupboard or drawers will help to keep your workbench tidy.

We also sell lighting rails, light fittings and sockets. If your workbench will live in a dim place or you work at night, these will be beneficial.

Choosing the right workbench in Manchester is a matter of sizing up your workspace, assessing the weight of the pieces you work on and deciding what kind of storage solutions you need to be built-in. For DIY, a medium-duty workbench will be fine, but heavy-duty work will call for a workbench with a steel top.
