How To Choose Workbenches For A Warehouse

Warehouses are designed to store as much product as possible. For warehouse managers, making good use of every square meter of a warehouse is important to make work efficient and safe for everyone on the warehouse floor.

Workbenches are an important type of equipment in warehouses because they can be used for a variety of different purposes, including:

·       Manufacturing

·       Packaging

·       Labelling

·       Storage

·       Stock checking

When most people envision a warehouse workbench, they envision someone putting something together or making something. But workbenches can do so much more which is why they are such an important piece of kit.

Here’s how to choose the right workbenches for a warehouse:

Portable or static?

If your warehouse will benefit from a workbench that can be moved around easily, then a mobile workbench on wheels will be best. Mobile workbenches can be wheeled around and locked into place either with lockable wheels or static legs.

Static workbenches are more durable and robust. In the right specification, they can support loads exceeding 1,000kg and so they are best for heavy industrial use. They are not designed to be moved around and have screw-down legs.

Top material

Warehouse workbenches are available with a wooden or metal top. Wooden tops can be refinished and replaced quite easily. Galvanized steel tops are stronger and will never need to be refinished, but they are more difficult to repair.

The right top material will ultimately depend on what you will use your warehouse workbenches for. Wooden tops are considered nicer surfaces to work on, however, metal is a more durable and resilient surface.

Size and weight load

Workbenches are available in a variety of different sizes.

For example, the common mobile workbench sizes are (W D H):

·       1200 x 600 x 840

·       1200 x 750 x 840

·       1500 x 600 x 840

·       1500 x 750 x 840

And the common static workbench sizes are (W D H):

·       1200 x 750 x 840mm

·       1500 x 600 x 840mm

·       1500 x 900 x 840mm

·       2000 x 600 x 840mm

·       2000 x 750 x 840mm

·       2000 x 900 x 840mm

You can also get workbenches in the following grades:

·       Medium-duty

·       Heavy-duty

·       Super heavy-duty

It’s important to choose a warehouse workbench that will offer the space you need and the strength you need. If you are unsure, we recommend choosing a heavy-duty workbench, as this will give you a good usable workspace.
