Specification Questions

Can I carry out welding work on a steel top workbench? Is it possible to have a non-galvanised top?

Yes, when you order a vice from UK Workbenches Ltd, it comes with the necessary bolts for attachment. However, for ease of transportation, we do not fit the vice to the workbench. The worktop is pre-drilled with holes so that you can easily fit the vice yourself upon delivery. The vice is usually located in a cupboard or tied to the shelf for your convenience.

What is the rear lip on the heavy and super heavy-duty workbenches?

The rear lip is a 40mm tall piece of galvanised steel at the back of the workbench. Its purpose is to prevent items from falling off the back of the workbench. If you do not require the rear lip, we can omit it from your workbench at no extra cost. Please let us know your preference when placing your order.

Technical Questions

Will my workbench support powered machinery?

Yes, our workbenches can support powered machinery as long as it remains within the Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL) weight limit specified for the workbench. However, please note that the vibration generated by machinery may require a reduction in the specified UDL, depending on the weight of the machine and the amount of vibration. It is important to avoid using powered machinery on a workbench with a steel top alone. For supporting powered machinery, it is recommended to use either a 45mm solid wood worktop or a steel worktop on top of a 45mm solid wood surface. If you have any concerns or need further assistance regarding the compatibility of your machinery with our workbenches, please feel free to contact us.

What are the dimensions of the upper shelf?

The dimensions of the upper shelf are the same as the length of the workbench, with a depth of 300mm. It is positioned 300mm above the worktop.

What is the gap between the bottom shelf and the worktop on the mobile workbenches?

The gap between the bottom shelf and the worktop is 610mm.
